Read the latest Covid 19 update.

December 16, 2024

Dear Residents, Responsible Parties, Family Members and Staff,

As a follow up to our last Covid-19 update, we have additional positive cases to report. Two additional residents have tested positive since that update along with multiple staff members. Per infection control guidelines, these residents are on isolation and will receive proper care while being closely monitored. The staff members will be off of the schedule for at least seven days and will return when they have tested negative. Resident testing that was completed today did not result in any new cases. We are hopeful that this is the start of a good trend. Testing will continue throughout this week on residents and staff in an effort to further prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Our staff will continue to provide masks and for those that have been fit tested, it is our recommendation that N-95 masks be worn inside the building. Regardless, masks are located at our main security desk in the lobby for visitors as well as staff. They are also on each unit for residents and staff. For residents who travel outside of their rooms, masks should be worn in the hallways and dayrooms. Hand sanitizer is located in many areas in the building, please use it frequently while at the center. Social distancing is recommended when possible. We also ask that all staff assist with sanitizing high touch surfaces.

We will also share again, that the best defense against any virus is vaccination. Covid-19 vaccinations are available at several locations nearby including Walgreens, Weis, Safeway and ShopRite pharmacies, CVS and Rite Aid. We encourage everyone to have their Covid-19 vaccination status updated as soon as possible, in addition to other vaccines such as Influenza, RSV and Shingles.

We will continue to keep our precautions and guidelines in place. If you have any questions about masks, testing, infection prevention or vaccines, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff. We will be glad to assist you as we need everyone’s cooperation in keeping our residents and staff as safe as possible.

Sincerely,

Ed Walter,
Administrator

A Daily Call to Make Sure You’re OK

Do you live alone? Are you recuperating from a hospital stay or rehab? Do you want to feel secure that someone is checking on you each day? If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider Citizens’ Telephone Assurance Program (TAP), a free service offered to those who live on their own and want the peace of mind of knowing that someone is checking on them daily. All information is kept strictly confidential.

When you register, you will provide the program coordinator with a medical history and an emergency contact.

Your emergency contact must agree to participate in our “Good Neighbor” program, which requires checking on you if our TAP volunteer is unable to contact you by phone and making a return call to the TAP volunteer.

State, county and local police agencies also participate in the program as an emergency backup in the event the participant and the good neighbor cannot be reached. The officer will make a check on the residence and call the volunteer with any information.

For additional information, please call Janet McDonald at 410-942-2112.

While many families take great pride in caring for their loved ones at home, the physical, emotional and financial consequences can be overwhelming.

Respite care provides short-term, temporary nursing care in a home-like setting to family members for whom you typically provide care.

You receive the peace of mind that comes from knowing your family member is being cared for 24 hours a day by a dedicated staff of medical professionals. And research has shown that providing respite care can have a positive effect on the health of the caregiver.

The Citizens Care Respite Care Program includes:

  • Social and recreational activities
  • Balanced, therapeutic meals, snacks and diet education
  • Activities including arts and crafts, live entertainment and day trips
  • Religious services

Guided by a philosophy of compassion and dignity, our hospice approach centers on a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers who provide ongoing support for both patient and family in familiar surroundings.

This care is provided in the belief that by helping the patient and loved ones accept death as a natural part of life, a measure of peace can be restored to the process of dying. By alleviating the patient’s pain and fear, hospice care fosters the spiritual strength to live, as fully as possible, all the days of one’s life.

"I appreciate all of you and thank you for working with me to make me stronger! I’ve learned more about my disease & how to better live with it."
